Important Programming Considerations

1.Location

  • Community center, school classroom or multi-purpose room
  • Must be safe, clean, and easy for children and parents to access
  • Kitchen space must be available if serving hot foods, and dishwashing and cooking equipment is essential
  • Must meet local health standards

2.Parents

Need to be involved in all components of the program

3.Volunteers

  • Essential to keep the operational cost for a program to a minimum
  • Students can also be volunteers
  • Ask senior citizens and local community groups to help
  • Local caterers, chefs or cooks
